Who can apply?
Everyone, who is interested in Astronomy/Research in Astronomy-related fields, can simply apply. The course we offer is set to prepare the participants to write a mini-research proposal that will be presented in a plenary session. The Proposal will not only useful for participants of the summer school, but also for others who would like to continue its implementation. All are invited to contribute!
Can I apply online?
No. Online application is not available for this time around. Application Form is available for download. Check on page for application.
How do I prepare to apply for BISSA-2009?
Check the requirements on the other page of this website. All the requirements count but motivation and reference letter(s) are the ones that may contribute more to successful applications.
What happens if I send the form(s) more than once?
We will only take into account the last form(s) we have received.
Should I apply during Term I or II?
Interested applicants can apply in either of the terms once. However, we encourage all to apply in Term I considering 1) reconsideration for Term II selection, 2) more time for visa application, 3) more preparation for money matters, 4) etc.
When will I receive notification of whether I am admitted or not?
Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will receive notification concurrently within 2 weeks after each deadline.
What should I do after being admitted?
Successful applicants will receive registration form and accommodation form that should be sent along with the proof of payment for the confirmation of attendance within the time that is to be determined later. Detailed information about this will be given to each successful applicant through e-mail.
Does BISSA-2009 offer scholarships?
Limited scholarships are available based on either Merit or Financial Needs. Interested applicants should fill in the financial assistance form. Deadline for Financial Assistance is December 19, 2008 (for Term I applicants) and February 6, 2009 (for Term II applicants). Term I applicants cannot send the filled financial assistance form in Term II. Download financial assistance form

I have been placed on the waiting list. What does that mean?
There is a possibility that some participants may not confirm their attendance/participation. Those who do not make it into our list of participants (successful applicants) but have the right requirements to be admitted will be on the waiting list if such a case happens.
Can I receive academic credit for BISSA-2009?
BISSA-2009 does not provide academic credit. Participants will receive
Certificate of Attendance after completing the program.
Where will the course be held?
The course will be held at the campus of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. (Updated Information will be provided later)
How long is BISSA-2009?
BISSA-2009 is a two/three-week program consisting of two-week course. At the end of the program, participants will have unique experience being in one of touristic towns close to the city of Bandung, Lembang, in which you will stay here for two nights, leading to the farewell party, a definitely interesting event specially designed for all involved in the program.
